Selling Through the Screen: A Virtual Sale Success Story

Due to COVID-19’s unexpected change to the real estate world, our teams have adapted quickly and safely. But it does make you wonder: is the virtual way is as effective as the traditional way of buying and selling homes? Well, one office has an answer with a success story to share.

VP/Managing Broker Jill Edgington of the Watson DeLand office let us know that her agents, Lori and Jourdan Hoover of the Hoover Team, were able to make a full and complete online sale with no interaction face-to-face – a true virtual success story.

The tropical pool home in Victoria Park sold for $410, 000 by the end of April, all through paperless, online, and virtual transactions and showings. The family lived in Connecticut when COVID-19 first began and they were quarantined up north. So, the Hoovers got creative!

“We offered to do FaceTime meetings and they had it hooked up to the big screen TV,” said Jourdan Hoover. “The entire family would watch as we walked the home, drove the neighborhood, and shared videos of the town as they had never been to DeLand before.”

“We assisted with the inspection and did a video walkthrough before the closing,” mentioned Jourdan. “Everything went smooth, and when they came to Florida two days after the closing they commented ‘We love the house.’ Since then we have been doing similar marketing and showings and our business has not missed a beat!”

Although our routines and practices are being challenged daily, stories like these encourage us to try new things and acclimate to changes with positivity and perseverance, as well as use all the digital marketing tools available to us.
