Cleaning of Our Waterways Goes Underway

It’s always a good time to be thinking of our Earth and how we can keep it clean and debris-free. What better way to do so than by cleaning our waterways? That’s just what Mark Feagle, associate at the Watson Orange Park office, along with Central Florida’s Regional VP Jeff Fagan set out to do.

Feagle and Fagan in partnership with Florida REALTORS® held their first ever Florida REALTORS® Waterway Cleanup on July 4-11. REALTORS® from across the state, from the First Coast to the Keys to the Panhandle, participated to clean up trash - by land and by sea - from Florida’s waterways. VP/Managing Broker for the Orange Park Watson office Amanda Feagle says her husband, Mark, has been instrumental in helping to get this cleanup its sea legs.

“My husband and father spearheaded this event and brought in Florida REALTORS® from all over. It's going to be an annual event,” said Amanda.

They also got over 100 masks to keep everyone safe and trash bags and other items to help the cleanup run smoothly. Mark Feagle hosted a giveaway for a 45qt. RTIC cooler to one lucky winner who posts to social media and uses the #cleanupfloridawaters hashtag. Participants were asked to post photos of their journey using the hashtag which will post to the Facebook explore page. Anyone can follow along on their cleanup adventures by searching the hashtag on social media, too.

“Our goal is to remove approximately 1,000,000 pounds of trash from lakes, rivers, oceans, and intracoastal waterways,” said Amanda.

Participants logged their trash collection on the Clean Swell app to keep track of their progress.

What an incredible way to give back to the Earth. Way to go Mark and Jeff!
