This April, five of our Watson offices, in addition to support from Watson Mortgage and Title North, came together to join forces for an incredible cause.
Watson Orange Park and Westside VP/Managing Broker Amanda Feagle, along with Duval Station VP/Managing Broker Sam Heflin, and Sunbeam/San Marco VP/Managing Broker Kim Smith collaborated with Rethreaded, a Jacksonville-based non-profit that helps rehabilitate local women who have escaped and survived human trafficking by providing jobs, housing, and counseling.
“Samantha Heflin, Kim Smith and I learned about Rethreaded through a Women’s Council event a few months ago,” said Feagle. “These women work in a 2,000-SqFt retail store off Beaver St. crafting and upcycling donated materials and scrap clothing. Old T-shirts become Grace Scarves and retired airline seats become leather purses and jewelry. Everything (and everyone) gets a new life at Rethreaded.”
Rethreaded’s founder Kristin Keen joined the three Watson offices’ weekly sales meetings throughout the month of April to spread awareness of their mission to help empower women.
“Our associates were so moved by their story that we had to see it firsthand,” said Feagle.
So, they planned a field trip to tour the Rethreaded facilities, first touring the brand-new 30,000+ SqFt facility in Springfield and then the current facility to witness the production area and shop handcrafted pieces, the profits all going directly to Rethreaded’s cause.
The offices then held a sponsored lunch for the Rethreaded staff along with 40 Watson associates from the Duval Station, Orange Park, San Marco/Sunbeam and Westside offices, plus five of our amazing Mortgage and Title representatives.
Watson Mortgage and Title North also sponsored the catered lunch from Olive Garden, with drinks and door prizes for associates.
“It was a phenomenal learning and networking experience for all of us,” said Feagle. “We plan to do more to support this wonderful organization in the future and we definitely recommend everyone take a look at what they’re doing to change lives in our community!”
Rethreaded continues to grow their mission and serve more survivors with their new Springfield facility.
