Team Watson Cleans Up Florida’s Waterways

Florida’s exquisite waterways are a big reason why so many of us live here in this great state, but as beautiful as they are, they’re in dire need of help.

For the third year in a row, Florida Realtors® and community partners across 67 counties joined forces to clean up waterways, highways, and byways, making the month of July the state association’s largest cleanup effort in its history.

On the Watson level, an initiative that began in 2020 by Jeff Fagan and Mark Feagle, the #cleanupfloridawaters event gained momentum and Amanda Feagle recently stated that “…this event now belongs to all of us” in her attempt to encourage Watson family members to do their part. Fagan even went on to present this to NAR who took it to a national level. Now, that’s pretty amazing!

In a company-wide email, Amanda and her husband Mark asked for everyone’s help by encouraging them to mobilize their offices, promote the event at their sales meetings, and to call on their centers of influence. She stated, “Leverage your partnerships for a good cause and let your customers know that REALTORS® care and are making a difference in our communities!”

On Saturday, July 23, NEFAR hosted a cleanup where they provided two boat caravans and selected nine boat ramp cleanup sites in Northeast Florida. Over 200 REALTORS® participated on a beautiful, sunny day and Watson Mortgage and Title teams as well as several Watson associates showed up strong, ready to make their local waterways shine.

In collaboration with JDog Junk Removal & Hauling of Jacksonville, St. Augustine associates and several volunteers picked up trash and made the region’s waterways gleam.

Oakleaf associates met with other volunteers at the Old Ferry Road Boat Ramp in Middleburg where they joined forces to pick up old tires and other debris. The boaters that arrived during the cleanup thanked the crew for their hard work, Holland stated on Facebook, and noted, “It was our pleasure to keep Florida's waterways sparkling!”

Donned with pickers, gloves, and trash bags in hand, Ormond Beach associates also worked hard cleaning up their area just off Old Dixie Highway.

As a token of thanks, Veterans United Craft Brewery hosted an after-party to celebrate the volunteers’ hard work and many of them rested their weary bones with some food and drink (and air conditioning!) as they reflected on their hard day’s work.

It’s amazing what Team Watson in collaboration with REALTORS® across Northern Florida can do when they combine efforts!
