Learning Steller MLS One Bite at a Time

On July 26, the Palm Coast office went live with Stellar MLS, a multiple listing service representing Orlando, Tampa, and other areas of Central Florida. Branch Manager Amy Dumas organized a milk and cookie break for those seeking support in the office on launch day. In her words, “We are taking each [lesson] one bite at a time…” and said the break was a way for her associates to walk away when they became stumped or frustrated with the system and enjoy a cookie with some cold milk.

There’s a revolution in real estate that’s changing the way brokers compete and Stellar MLS makes listing data easier to access. From iBuyers to artificial intelligence, there is a lot of pressure on brokers to increase their service and expertise while optimizing technology and capital expenditures. Stellar MLS is one way to break down old barriers and create better opportunities for brokers to excel.

Stellar MLS is one of the largest of its kind in the United States, with 59,000 members and more than 300,000 listings in their system. Their motto reads: “One Listing, Everywhere, Automatically.”

According to Dumas, the most challenging thing about Stellar is loading pictures and rearranging them, in addition to completing the listing form and getting sellers to sign off on it. This process takes a few extra steps, but the result paints a more accurate and robust picture of the listing features. Some in the office love Stellar, while others find it difficult.

Dumas hopes that once her associates learn the system, they’ll realize the efficiencies of navigating it from both their phone while out on the road as well as on their PC or laptop. Everyone in the Palm Coast office is currently using Stellar MLS.
