The Greyson Project

On Thursdays, December 1 and 15, Amy Dumas, Amanda Feagle, and Beth Ruggeri contributed to The Greyson Project (TGP) from the North Central Region by delivering holiday bags to Wolfson Children's Hospital for families spending the holidays in the hospital. A TGP Ambassador, Dumas and one of her customers Krista Heineke, delivered the bags to the hospital.

The Greyson Project began in 2010 with a little boy named Greyson who lay dying in a hospital bed with his family surrounding him during the holiday season. Family members and friends rallied around with care packages containing everything they needed to decorate the room for Christmas, and so they did just that: they turned his hospital room into a festive home-away-from-home and what a difference it made for all who stopped by to visit!

As a tribute to Greyson, they began this project which consisted of donating bags of decorations to families spending the holidays in the hospital. Grayson’s family believes that by donating one bag, you can make someone’s hospital room feel like home.

Dumas mused, “This will be an annual event and I am proud to bring these special bags to people who are dealing with an illness of a loved one.”

“Our friends were where I expected them to be, sitting on Greyson’s bed. But as I took in the rest of the room, I was stunned. It was decorated for Christmas! There were colored lights on the cabinets, garland on the windowsill, stockings hanging at the foot of the bed, even a Christmas tree. We sat in that hospital room that evening with our friends with a sweet gesture of love surrounding us in that space.”– The Greyson Project website
