Terror struck one of our very own Watson families this past January. When 11-year-old Jacob, along with his mother, Watson agent Jessica Gonzalez, and younger brother, were in the car headed for school, a car making a U-turn hit their Jeep into a nearby retention pond.
Gonzalez and the kids were trapped inside the vehicle, but Jacob was able to kick his door open and get all of the passengers out of the car before it sank. Jacob’s heroic act has inspired his family and community come together to honor him.
“As a mother, you give life to your baby,” said Gonzalez. “To have your son return that gift of life 11 years later is simply something you can’t put into words. We truly couldn’t be prouder of him!”
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder and St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara awarded the young boy for his actions with courage coins and a visit to his K-8 school. Mr. Watson himself also sent Jacob three gold coins for his heroism.
Jacob is the oldest son of Jessica and Jose Gonzalez of Team Gonzalez of Watson’s Port St. Lucie office.
We are so proud of Jacob for being a hero to his family and protecting our most precious assets. Way to go, Jacob!
