Running for a Cure!

Heathrow associate Carla Robles, alongside Denise Pantaleon from Watson Mortgage joined forces and began a yearly fundraising event to honor Carla’s mother and Denise’s father who both passed away from lung disease.

On Saturday, May 7, Carla and Denise were joined by Melissa Barry, also from Watson Mortgage, as well as Advent Health Head Nurse, Rebecca Polinar, and together they ran and walked their way for a cure at the 8th American Lung Association’s Lung Force 5K held at SeaWorld in Orlando.

Their team was one of the top fundraising teams, raising over $2,000, “…and [we] had a great time reflecting on [our] lost ones,” said Carla. She also mentioned they enjoyed a beautiful morning watching the sun rise over SeaWorld, while bonding during this amazing event.

Nearly 500 people signed up to take part in the event and altogether they raised over $95,000 to fund the association’s efforts to end lung cancer/disease, as well as support the organization’s COVID-19 initiative. For more information, please visit their website: Lung Force Run/Walk.

We can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday than raising money for a good cause, spending time with friends, getting some exercise, and enjoying a beautiful day! Way to go, ladies of Heathrow!

Carla also wishes to mention that ALL are welcome to join them next year. Please send her an email or give her a call if you wish to participate.
