Oviedo Finds Furrever Homes

On Saturday, February 25, associates from the Oviedo office led by Judy Bissell, alongside members from Watson Mortgage and Title, hosted a Pet Adoption Event that included adorable four-legged furs as well as a chili cookoff at their office located on Alafaya Trail from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Guests indulged in delicious chili (some were even asked to judge the contest!), cuddled on some adorable critters, and learned about the pet adoption process.

Tiffany Chapman of Watson Title won second place for her white chicken chili, while Christine David took home first prize for her sweet and spicy chili. Associates mingled with guests and handed out Watson swag like jar openers and coloring books.

The event also highlighted a few animal rescue groups, one being The Way Home, a volunteer-based non-profit cat rescue and animal adoption organization based in Central Florida that safely participates in TNR (trap, neuter, return) of stray and abandoned cats, and promotes and advertises cats for adoption. Another group who participated was Franklin’s Friends, a volunteer-based non-profit organization founded in 2003 that awards grants to support Central Florida animal welfare, who, over the past eighteen years, has raised over $2 million dollars for their cause.

Also in attendance were The Pixel Fund, an organization created to save the lives of animals who would otherwise be lost to the shelter system, and Husky Haven of Florida, a non-profit who rescues stray, surrendered, and endangered Siberian Huskies and places them in permanent homes while educating and supporting current and future owners. Both groups brought adorable four-legged friends for guests to interact with and educated people on the adoption process.
